Riftone vs Moises: Which Stem Splitter App for iPhone?

Updated October 11, 2026 · By the Riftone developer (we make Riftone, so read with that in mind; every claim below is sourced)

Both apps use AI to split a song into stems so you can remove vocals, isolate drums or mute an instrument to play along. Moises is the larger, older and more complete platform. Riftone is a simpler iPhone-only app that always gives you six stems.

Verdict. Choose Moises if you want a usable free plan (5 songs a month), the cheapest monthly price ($5.99), songs up to 20 minutes, chord detection and lyrics, or apps for Android, web and desktop. Choose Riftone if you want every song split into six stems including guitar and piano in one pass, quick key and tempo changes for practice, a 3-day free trial on the weekly plan, and lossless WAV export directly on iPhone (from version 1.3.4). Yearly price is the same: $39.99.

We have not run a blind audio-quality test of the two separation engines, so this page makes no claim about which sounds cleaner. Both are AI separators: expect some bleed between stems on dense mixes.

Where Moises is better

Where Riftone is better

Which one should you pick?

Singer making karaoke tracks occasionally

Start with the Moises free plan: five songs a month, vocals vs instrumental, is often enough. If you need more songs, the key changed and WAV export on your phone, try Riftone's weekly trial.

Guitarist or pianist practicing along

Riftone splits guitar and piano out in every song, so you can mute your part and keep the band. Moises Premium can do this too if you pick those instruments when uploading, and adds chord charts, which many players value.

Producer or heavy user

Moises: longer files, finer instrument options, desktop app and DAW plugin, and Pro features. Riftone is built for quick work on the iPhone, not a studio workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Is Riftone cheaper than Moises?

Not across the board. On the US App Store both cost $39.99 per year. Moises Premium monthly ($5.99) is cheaper than Riftone monthly ($9.99). Riftone also has a weekly plan at $6.99 with a 3-day free trial. Prices checked on 2026-10-11.

Which has the better free plan, Riftone or Moises?

Moises. Its Free plan lets you separate 5 of your own songs per month, up to 5 minutes each, into 2 stems (vocals and instrumental) or 4 stems (vocals, drums, bass, other). Riftone is free to download and you can try separation on built-in demo tracks, but separating your own songs needs Riftone Premium.

How many stems do Riftone and Moises split a song into?

Riftone always splits into 6 stems: vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano and other. Moises Free offers 2- or 4-stem presets. Moises Premium lets you pick up to 5 instruments per upload from a larger list (including lead and background vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, strings and winds), and Moises Pro adds more, such as individual drum parts.

What is the maximum song length?

Riftone accepts songs up to 15 minutes. Moises allows 5 minutes per file on Free and 20 minutes on Premium and Pro.

Do Riftone and Moises work offline?

Neither separates songs offline: both run the AI separation in the cloud and need an internet connection. In Riftone, songs you have already separated play back without a connection. Moises says in its help center that it cannot be used offline at the moment.

Can I export WAV on iPhone?

Riftone exports M4A, and lossless WAV from app version 1.3.4. Moises exports MP3 and M4A in the mobile app; WAV export is available only in the Moises web and desktop apps, for Premium and Pro users.

Which is better for chords and lyrics?

Moises. It offers AI chord detection and lyric transcription (limited to the first minute on Free, unlimited on paid plans). Riftone is focused on stem separation, pitch and tempo change, a metronome, trimming and export.

Can I use Moises or Riftone on a computer or Android?

Moises runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, the web and desktop (macOS and Windows) with one account. Riftone is available only on the Apple App Store.
